Dr. Evan Kodra is an entrepreneur, a statistician, and a leader in the emerging field of climate informatics. He holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Northeastern University’s Sustainability and Data Sciences (SDS) Lab as well as and B.S. and M.S. in Statistics from the University of Tennessee. His research on climate extremes and natural hazards has been published in journals including Nature Publishing Group’s Scientific Reports, Geophysical Research Letters, PLOS ONE, Computers and Geosciences, Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics, and Environmental Science & Technology, has been cited by the International Panel on Climate Change and has been highlighted by publications including Nature, USA Today, Yahoo!, and MSNBC. Evan has been a data science leader for several startups, including MIT-spinout Affectiva, Jana, and Energy Points, the last of which was acquired by Lux Research in 2015. In 2016 he founded the Northeastern University spinout and National Science Foundation funded company risQ with a mission to infuse climate change science into every day decision making."
